Hello lovelies! How are you? March was such an exciting month for new releases and I think April looks just as good! I’m not sure if I should be excited for my book shelf or worried for my wallet, but I think we all know what’s the more likely scenario. I’ve switched the format for these posts up a little, so it’ll hopefully be a little more informative than me trying to explain the plot of books I haven’t read yet.
Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan – April 2nd
“In a centuries-long war where beauty and brutality meet, three paths entwine in a shadowy world of spilled blood and mysterious saints, where a forbidden romance threatens to tip the scales between dark and light.”
Buzzwords: Shadow and Bone comparison. Russian-inspired. Villain romance. Religious magic.
The Devouring Gray by Christine Lynn Herman – April 2nd
“On the edge of town a beast haunts the woods, trapped in the Gray, its bonds loosening…”
Buzzwords: The Raven Boys comparison. Mysterious small town. Monsters.
You’d Be Mine by Erin Hahn – April 2nd
“Annie Mathers is America’s sweetheart and heir to a country music legacy full of all the things her Gran warned her about. Superstar Clay Coolidge is most definitely going to end up one of those things.”
Buzzwords: Creative teens. Country music. Tour life.
Girls on the Verge by Sharon Biggs Waller – April 9th
“Camille couldn’t be having a better summer. But on the very night she learns she got into a prestigious theater program, she also finds out she’s pregnant.”
Buzzwords: Female friendships. Reproductive rights. Road trip.
Through the White Wood by Jessica Leake – April 9th
“Katya’s power to freeze anything she touches has made her an outcast in her isolated village. And when she loses control of her ability, accidentally killing several villagers, she is banished to the palace of the terrifying Prince Sasha in Kiev.”
Buzzwords: The Bear and the Nightingale comparison. Russian inspired. Elemental magic.
The Tiger at Midnight by Swati Teerdhala- April 23rd
“Esha is a legend, but no one knows. It’s only in the shadows that she moonlights as the Viper, the rebels’ highly skilled assassin.”
Buzzwords: Indian history. Hindu mythology. Female assassin. Rebellion.
If I’m Being Honest by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka – April 23rd
“High school senior Cameron Bright’s reputation can be summed up in one word: bitch.”
Buzzwords: YA Shakespeare retelling. Mean girl MC. Redemption arc.
When I Was Summer by J.B. Howard – April 30th
“Sixteen-year-old Nora Wakelin has always felt like an outsider in her own family. Her parents and older sister love her, but they don’t understand anything about her. She has always imagined that her biological mother might somehow provide the answers.”
Buzzwords: Girl in a rock band. Tour life. Family relationships. Identity.
What’s your most anticipated April release?
I love the edition of buzzwords! I think that is a really great way to talk about books you haven’t read yet.

There’s so many good books coming out this month, it’s wild. I’m not 100% it’s a retelling yet, but it mentions Taming of the Shrew in the blurb!
