The Blog Glo-Up Tag: Confessions of a Clueless Blogger

Hello lovelies! How are you? Welcome to another episode of clueless blogger does another tag no one asked her to do, while ignoring all the ones she’s actually been tagged in for absolutely no good reason.

WHY DID YOU CREATE YOUR BLOG?

I started by blog because I wanted to be a more active member in the bookish community. I’d been watching a lot of booktube and reading a lot book blogs for a while – and I wanted to be a part of that. I wanted my own little corner, a place to share my love for books, create bookish content and connect with other readers. Since I love expressing myself in writing, I decided a blog would be the best fit for me.

WHEN DID YOU START YOUR BLOG?

I started blogging in July/August 2017.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST POST ABOUT?

It was a TBR post for a reading challenge I was participating in. It took me a whole weekend to write, cause I had no clue what I was doing.

HAVE YOU HAD ANY SIGNIFICANT DESIGN OR NAME CHANGES?

Nope! I have literally no graphic design skills – so I try to keep it simple. I’ve made some tiny adjustments in my color scheme and fonts, but I think that’s it.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE BIGGEST CHANGE TO YOUR BLOG’S CONTENT?

The biggest change in my content happened when I stopped waiting for “permission” to write the posts I wanted to write. I started out only posting the usual stuff: TBR posts, weekly memes, wrap ups etc. When I had an idea that was outside of that mold, I’d tell myself I couldn’t do it. That I didn’t have the authority or ability or audience to write it. Now I just write what I want to write. Getting over my “blogger impostor syndrome” has made my content a lot more varied. It’s more fun for me to write and hopefully more fun for you to read!

WHY OR WHAT HAS BEEN THE BIGGEST INFLUENCE ON YOUR BLOGGING JOURNEY?

My mom! She’s my number one supporter in everything I do and that includes blogging. She thinks every idea I’ve ever had is brilliant. Which is untrue, but lovely, especially when I need a pep talk. She even follows my blog via email and gets annoyed if she’s not the first one to read a new post. (Hi mom, love you ❤️ )

IF BEFORE YOU STARTED YOU COULD LOOK AT YOUR BLOG NOW, WHAT WOULD SURPRISE YOU THE MOST?

I think I’d be most surprised to see that I’ve been so consistent with it and that it’s grown so fast. I still can’t believe I have more than 1000 followers now. I never thought that would happen, heck I didn’t think 100 followers would happen. I’m so grateful for every single person who takes the time to read my posts and talk to me, you make blogging so fun for me. Y’all are the best!

WHAT PERSONAL MILESTONE HAVE YOU HIT THAT MAKES YOU THE PROUDEST?

I know it’s not technically a milestone, but I felt so proud the first time someone told me they read a book because of my blog! It was such a good feeling and it makes me so happy to think about, cause that’s kind of the reason I wanted to be a blogger. To share my excitement and love for books – and hopefully make someone else feel excited about those books too!

WHAT DO YOU SEE NEXT FOR YOUR BLOG?

I’m not planning any big changes. I want to stay consistent with posting 3 times a week and coming up with fun bookish content. I’m also thinking about writing more posts about blogging, writing and creativity –  if that’s something you’d be interested in reading about? Oh and I’d like to start a project to feature other bloggers on my blog! Ok, so I’m planning some changes…

Since I wasn’t tagged, I’m not going to tag anyone specific. But I would love to learn about your blogging journeys, so if you want to do this – consider yourself tagged!

  2. I’m glad I am not the only one who keeps doing tags that I wasn’t tagged in and who also has a list of tags I have been tagged in that I need to get to 😂 Thats awesome that your mom is such a big influence in your blog! Mine is my best friend Phil who I have to text before I post anything so he can be sure to read it first 😂

  3. This is a fantastic tag! I really love your answers and it’s soooo true about giving yourself permission to do write what you want to write. I think if you are writing about think you enjoy then the readers will see that and want to read it all the more. Great post! BTW, Clueless ftw!
