Anticipated Releases: August 2018

capture-20180807-181653.pngHi guys! How are you? This post is kinda late, but that just means that a lot of these books are already out and y’all can all go buy them immediately if you’re so inclined. I know I am.

Only Love Can Break Your Heart by Katherine Webber, August 2nd

Katherine Webbers first book, Wing Jones, is one of my absolute favorites. She’s already become an auto-buy author for me. According to her twitter this one has desert adventures, late night drives, moonlit discoveries and sunlit magical moments. So exciting!

Catwoman: Soulstealer by Sarah J. Maas, August 7th

This book wasn’t on my radar, than I read “Catwoman teams up with Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn” and was like sign me the fuck up. I’m not big on superheroes, but I’m always down for a villainous girl squad.

Finding Yvonne by Brandy Colbert, August 7th

Brandy Colbert’s another auto-buy author for me, thanks to her wonderful contemporary Little & Lion and this one sounds just as wonderful. It’s about a girl who’s trying to figure out her future and dealing with an unexpected pregnancy.

Star-Touched Stories by Roshani Chokshi, August 7th

This is a collection of stories set in the world of the companion novels Star-Touched Queen and Crown of Wishes. I adore the rich and magical world inspired by Indian mythology and folklore that Roshani Chokshi’s created and I’m so excited we get to see more of it.

The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker, Agust 7th

My romance pick of the month! The Simple Wild is about a girl who returns to the Alaska wild to reconnect with her father and falls in love with a proud, obnoxious Alaskan pilot. I love books set in Alaska and hate to love romance, so this should be great.

The Looking Glass by Janet McNally, August 14th

This sounds like a kind of contemporary fairytale about a girl who’s searching for her missing sister with the help of a fairytale book her sister sent her, which they call Girl in Trouble. I’m always going to have high hopes for any book that mixes real life with fairytales, so I’m crossing my fingers for this one.

Giant Days by Non Pratt, August 21st

Confession: I’ve only read the first volume of Giant Days, but I loved it and I’m planning on catching up with the series. And once I have, I’ll definitley be checking out this novelization. I think it’s so fun to see graphic novels getting the novel treatment, and not just the other way around.

Fierce Like a Firestorm by Lana Popović, August 21st

One of my most anticipated sequels of the year, this contemporary fantasy book set in Montenegro is all about magic, sisters and curses. There’s also a f/f main ship in this one.

In Another Time by Caroline Leech, August 28th

I never reach for WWII fiction, but this one caught my eye. It’s a about a girl who spends the war years in the Scottish Highlands as a Women’s Timber Corps lumberjill and since I’ve never read anything quite like that before – I added it to my TBR.

Bloody Rose by Nicholas Eames, August 28th

I read and adored Kings of the Wyld in July, so I’m very happy I don’t have to wait very long to get my hands on the sequel. I’m so excited for another wild adventure in the wyld,

Mirage by Somaiya Daud, August 28th

Aside from some long awaited sequels (I’m looking at you, Muse of Nightmares) this book is by far my most anticipated 2018 release. It’s a Moroccan inspired sci-fi/fantasy about a girl who’s forced to become a hated princess’s body-double and it sounds perfect.

Toil & Trouble: 15 Tales of Women & Witchcraft edited by Tess Sharpe and Jessica Spotswood, August 28th

I mean, it’s 15 tales of women and witchcraft, you don’t have to be a witch to figure out why I’m excited for this one.

So those are all the August releases I’m excited for! Are any of these on your TBR as well? What other shiny new releases are you excited about? Let’s talk!

  1. Wait…How bad is it that I didn’t even read the blurb for Catwoman & now seeing you mention Harley I’m click click clicking away on the USPS website that’s supposed to deliver it today?!?! smh LOL! Also, I just got approved for The Simple Wild not knowing it’s already out today *runs to read ARC* So many great titles! From here on out, the rest of the year is looking FAB! Happy reading! 🙂

  2. Great list! I can’t wait for Fierce Like a Firestorm, Wicked Like a Wildfire had my favorite setting of 2017. Also Mirage and Star-Touched Stories! Their covers are so beautiful and I’m sure the books will be as well (also, I’ve heard one of the stories in Chokshi’s collection is f/f).
Another f/f August release that I’m anticipating is The Dark Beneath the Ice; I’ve heard mixed things about it but I want to try it myself.

    1. Thank you! The setting in Wicked Like a Wildfire was so amazing, I totally want to go there! YA set outside the US is everything. I have such high hopes for both of those, they sound wonderful! I haven’t heard about The Dark Beneath the Ice, but I’ll look out for your review! Horror’s not my favorite genre, but you never know…

  3. The Simple Wild and The Looking Glass sound quite interesting, I adored both of their covers. I’ve never heard of any of the other stories, but it’s exciting to know a little bit about what to expect that will be published this month 🙂
