Most Anticipated 2018 Releases: July-December

capture-20180713-164537.pngHi guys! How are you? I hope there’s room for some more books on your TBR, cause I’m gonna share my most anticipated releases of the second half of 2018 with you and there are some gems on this list y’all. Picking just 10 books was honestly so hard and I love that – cause it means there’s a lot of exciting things coming out this fall/winter. And heads up, like half of these are sequels – so watch out for spoilers.

Star-Touched Stories by Roshani Chokshi – August 7th

“He was Lord of Death, cursed never to love. She was Night incarnate, destined to stay alone. After a chance meeting, they wonder if, perhaps, they could be meant for more. But danger crouches in their paths, and the choices they make will set them on a journey that will span lifetimes.”

Fierce Like a Firestorm by Lana Popović – August 21st

Twin sisters Iris and Malina thought they knew how to reverse the ancient curse that haunts their line, the spell that destines them to use their gleams—unique forms of beauty-manipulating magic—to entice and enchant none other than Death himself. But both sisters thought wrong.”

Mirage by Somaiya Daud – August 28th

“In a star system dominated by the brutal Vathek empire, eighteen-year-old Amani is a dreamer. She dreams of what life was like before the occupation; she dreams of writing poetry like the old-world poems she adores; she dreams of receiving a sign from Dihya that one day, she, too, will have adventure, and travel beyond her isolated moon. But when adventure comes for Amani, it is not what she expects.”

The Curses by Laure Eve – September 4th

“At Summer’s behest, the coven comes back together, reluctantly drawing their erstwhile friend River back into the fold. But Wolf’s behavior becomes unpredictable even as Fenrin’s strength fades, and Summer must ask herself whether the friend she so loves is also planning her family’s ultimate, cursed demise.”

A Spark of White Fire by Sangu Mandanna – September 4th

“In a universe of capricious gods, dark moons, and kingdoms built on the backs of spaceships, a cursed queen sends her infant daughter away, a jealous uncle steals the throne of Kali from his nephew, and an exiled prince vows to take his crown back.”

Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor – October 2nd

“In the wake of tragedy, neither Lazlo nor Sarai are who they were before. One a god, the other a ghost, they struggle to grasp the new boundaries of their selves as dark-minded Minya holds them hostage, intent on vengeance against Weep.”

Grim Lovelies by Megan Shepherd – October 2nd

“Enchanted from animal to human girl and forbidden to venture beyond her familiar Parisian prison, Anouk is a Beastie: destined for a life surrounded by dust bunnies and cinders serving Mada Vittora, the evil witch who spelled her into existence. That is, until one day she finds her mistress murdered in a pool of blood and Anouk is accused of the crime.”

The Boneless Mercies by April Genevieve Tucholke – October 2nd

“Frey, Ovie, Juniper, and Runa are the Boneless Mercies—girls hired to kill quickly, quietly, and mercifully. But Frey is weary of the death trade and, having been raised on the heroic sagas of her people, dreams of a bigger life. When she hears of an unstoppable monster ravaging a nearby town, Frey decides this is the Mercies’ one chance out.”

Blanca & Roja by Anna-Marie McLemore – October 9th

“The del Cisne girls have never just been sisters; they’re also rivals, Blanca as obedient and graceful as Roja is vicious and manipulative. They know that, because of a generations-old spell, their family is bound to a bevy of swans deep in the woods. They know that, one day, the swans will pull them into a dangerous game that will leave one of them a girl, and trap the other in the body of a swan.”

All the Wandering Light by Heather Fawcett – December 4th

“After the terrifying events on Mount Raksha, the witches have returned, and River has betrayed Kamzin to regain his dark powers. The witches’ next step: march on the Three Cities and take over the Empire. If Kamzin is to save Azmiri, she must find a star that fell in the Ash Mountains to the north. To get there, Kamzin has allied with Azar-at, the dangerous and deceptive fire demon, who can grant her great power, in exchange for pieces of her soul.”

  1. I’m anticipating almost all of these – Muse of Nightmares and Blanca & Roja more than the others, maybe. And I’ve already read A Spark of White Fire (got an ARC on edelweiss), it’s really good – probably my favorite YA book set in space!

  2. I can’t wait for Blanca & Roja! I’m so glad to see other people that want to read that book, I really love Anna-Marie McLemore’s writing and I’m sure the story is gonna be amazing. I haven’t heard about most of the other books on your list before, but I’m adding a few to my tbr. Great job! 💗

  3. I have so many of these new releases on my mental list of anticipated releases! I’m especially excited about Grim Lovelies (I’ve heard some booktubers say it’s similar to Shadowhunters series which I love) and Blanca & Roja of course!

  4. I am so excited about Grim Lovelies! I loved Megan Shepherd’s Madman’s Daughter trilogy and was really disappointed that the next series she wrote was dystopian because I had lost interest in that genre at that point. I think she’s going to do so well at fantasy and I can’t wait to read this one.

    1. Same! I’m so excited to read it! I heard a lot of mixed thing about The Graces too (mostly bad things tbh), but I loved it. It’s hard to talk about cause the reasons I love it so much are totally spoilers, but basically if you like atmospheric writing, witchy vibes and don’t mind unlikable characters you might like it?

  5. I’m super excited about these new releases too!! Mirage seems especially interesting. Also, Muse of Nightmares is a book I cannot wait to read! I never caught up on books released in 2017 and I feel like that will be the case this year too haha.
