Anticipated Releases: June 2018

Hi guys! How are you? It feels wild that it’s already June, but here we are and her are all the shiny, new releases I’m excited for this month:

Summer of Salt by Katrina Leno – June 5th

Magical realism, set on an island, lesbian MC and aro/ace rep – this sounds perfect to me.

Invisible Ghosts by Robyn Schneider – June 5th

I loved The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider and I’m so intrigued by the fact that MC’s best friend is literally a ghost. I love a touch of a paranormal in my contemporaries!

Bruja Born by Zoraida CΓ³rdova – June 5th

Labyrinth Lost was one of my favorite books of 2017, so I’m super excited to read the sequel. If follows Alex’s sister Lula, a bruja with healing powers who brings her boyfriend back from the dead and gets more than she bargained for. Does this remind anyone else of Undead Girl Gang???

Bring Me Their Hearts by Sara Wolf – June 5th

This is a book about a girl who has to rip out a prince’s heart to win her freedom from a witch. How amazingly evil does that sounds? Please be brutal, book.

Neverworld Wake by Marisha Pessl – June 5th

I’m so excited Marisha Pessl has another book out and even more excited that it’s a mix of mystery and sci-fi.

Social Creature by Tara Isabella Burton – June 5th

I have a thing for books about dark and messy female friendships, guys.

Mariam Sharma Hits the Road by Sheba Karim – June 5th

Muslim girl squad??? Road-trip??? New Orleans?? Yes, please.

Running With Lions by Julian Winters – June 7th

This sounds like the gay sports romance I didn’t know I wanted, but now I want it a lot.

Final Draft by Riley Redgate – June 12th

I love reading books that explore writing as a theme, plus the MC is pansexual, biracial and plus-size!

Providence by Caroline Kepnes – June 19th

This book is part love story, part detective story, and part supernatural thriller. That sounds really weird, but I like weird.

Not the Girls You’re Looking For by Aminah Mae Safi – June 19th

I’m always here for girl squads and I’ve heard this one has unlikable female characters as well, so I’m super ready to love them. I love messy girls.

The Mermaid by Christina Henry – June 19th

First of all, keep the mermaid books coming please. Second of all, this book has a real mermaid pretending to be a fake mermaid at a museum and I’m in love with this idea.

A Thousand Beginnings and Endings by Ellen Oh and Elsie Chapman – June 26th

This is an anthology of stories inspired by East and South Asian folklore and mythology and Roshani Chokshi has a story in it! I love folklore, mythology and Roshani Chokshi.

Trail of Lightning by Rebecca Roanhorse – June 26th

This is a #OwnVoices Native American YA about a monster hunter and I want a copy now.

Let’s talk! Are any of these new releases on your radar as well? What June releases are you most excited about?

      1. Yeah, I read another review since then that mentioned lesbian and ace rep. But I agree, sometimes when it’s not tagged it’s really hard to figure out what’s going on πŸ˜€

  3. Wow, I can’t believe i’m not familiar with most of these books! I’m so out of the loop with new releases! These do sound interesting though. I’ll be on the look out. Thanks for the suggestions! πŸ˜€

  4. Oh no I shouldn’t have read this post! I might fail at my book buying ban when I just started. Invisible Ghosts sounds so interesting, and that cover is so pretty! And you know how much I loved A Thousand Beginnings and Endings ^^.

  8. I personally can’t wait for Marisha Pessl and Caroline Kepnes’ new books! They were the two authors that got me interested and excited about thrillers after I read ‘Night Film’ and ‘You.’ Bring Me Their Hearts also sounds quite wicked, I might pick that one up too!

    1. I’m super excited about them too for the exact same reason. And I love that they both have sci-fi/fantastical elements too, cause that’s a little different! I really hope it’s wicked!

  9. I have Night Film by Marisha Pessl but still haven’t read it, though I’ve heard amazing things. I’m interested in checking out her newest … I love scary books! I really don’t have my eye on anything for June, except for Rebecca Phillips’s latest.
