Hi guys! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Artsy Girl. The topic this week is Books You’d Slay a Lion to Get Early, so basically I’m here to add even more books to your tbr. I’ve shamelessly stolen the lovely Avery’s title, which is very uncivilized as me – but so is lion murder so what can you do!
The Winter of the Witch by Katherine Arden // Of course this book is on my list! The Bear and the Nightingale is my favorite book of all time and I’m desperate to find out what will happen to my darling, Vasya. I’m eternally grateful to Katherine Arden for being some kind of writing Amazon and never making wait years between sequels. But I still want the book like, now, though. August 1st
All the Wandering Light by Heather Fawcett // This series has so many things I love reading about, mountains, explorers, animal companions and witches. The first book was perfect and based on where it ended – I have a feeling the second one will be even better. December 4th.
Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor // Not only was Strange the Dreamer one of my absolute favorite reads last year, it also ended on the most brutal cliffhanger – so I think I speak for everyone when I say October feels light-years away. October 2nd.
Bruja Born by Zoraida Córdova // I love books about witches and Labyrinth Lost is one of the best witchy-books I’ve ever read, so of course I’m super excited to get my hands on a copy of the sequel and read more about my favorite Brooklyn Brujas! June 5th.
Fierce Like a Firestorm by Lana Popović // Can we take a moment to admire the cover for this one? It’s so pretty! I loved the first book in this series, especially the Montenegrin setting, fascinating magic and the sister dynamic, so I’m really excited to find out what happens next. And guys, there’s a main f/f relationship in this one. August 21st.
Mirage by Somaiya Daud // Mirage is a mix of sci-fi and fantasy set in a world inspired by Moroccan culture, about a girl who’s forced to become a princess’s body-double. I couldn’t be more excited for this if I tried. August 28th.
Grim Lovelies by Megan Shepherd // The protagonist in Grim Lovelies is a Beastie, enchanted from animal to human girl. If that’s not enough to hook you, it’s also happens to be set in a magical Paris. October 2nd.
Pride by Ibi Zoboi // A Pride and Prejudice retelling set in Brooklyn with an Afro-Latina main character? I’d be all over that even if I hadn’t loved the authors’s wonderful Debut American Street. September 18th.
Blanca & Roja by Anna-Marie McLemore // I adore Anna Marie McLemore’s writing and “a magical realist Snow-White & Rose-Red meets Swan Lake” is literally the most enchanting blurb I’ve read. October 9th.
The Boneless Mercies by April Genevieve Tucholke // Girls squads and monsters are my favorite things, this book has both. Someone please throw a copy my way. October 2nd.
